Fighting Parkinson’s, and being focused on the path

If you did not have Parkinson’s, the Recipe for Recovery, in and of itself, is not too easy or too difficult. I understand this from both sides of the disease. But you do have Parkinson’s, and even though you can do the Recipe, with or without modifications, I know that on a sliding scale of easy to difficult, the marker is much closer to difficult than it is to easy. Your true difficulty is not in the initial doing of the Recipe. Your true difficulty is in continuing to do it until you recover.

This is where faith has to be stronger than fear and FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real). This is where faith in yourself and your decisions and in your connection to your Higher Power, the Greater Consciousness, the Greater Healing Power, or simply the electro-magnetic waves inside and outside your body, have to be stronger than fear and FEAR. This is where faith that you are on the correct path has to be stronger than every other person’s opinion about how you should be treating your Parkinson’s. That right, your Parkinson’s.

When I say “your Parkinson’s,” it is because I feel that since we all experience the symptoms of disease a little differently, each of us is the expert of our Parkinson’s…we are the ones living inside the Parkinson’s polluted body, thinking with the Parkinson’s polluted mind and feeling with the Parkinson’s polluted spirit. No matter what anybody else thinks you should do for your Parkinson’s, they do not live in your body, and at the end of the day, they go home and you’re the one who has Parkinson’s, not them. So, what are you going to do about it? How about cleaning up the pollution one step at a time.

Body Pollution (Physical symptoms and Medications). The Qigong and Standing exercises help cleanse your body’s Parkinson’s pollution by helping your liver and other internal organs heal and function better.
Mind Pollution (I will end up with a walker or in a wheelchair). The chanting and visualizations help get your brain active with a healing “can do” attitude, which cleanses your mind pollution.
Spiritual Pollution (It seems hopeless, how do I know this will work). The meditations and prayers and affirmations help you connect your Inner Divine to a Greater Healing Power Divine outside of your body, which cleanses your spiritual pollution by replacing fear with hope and faith.

Parkinson’s can only live in a polluted environment. Clean up the pollution and Parkinson’s dissolves into nothing. That is why once I recovered, I did not need to continue doing the Recipe for Recovery. As a result of eradicating all three levels of pollution, I removed the causes of Parkinson’s, and I knew they would not come back.

I felt that if I continued to do the Recipe for Recovery after I became symptom free, it would have been out of fear that if I did not do it, the disease would return. If we live in fear, we create the things we fear the most, and then False Evidence Appearing Real becomes our reality. This is one of the important lessons I learned during the recovery process as I was becoming a new person.

Please remember, this is a race won by the tortoise, not the hare. And, as you are traveling down the path toward your recovery, one slow tortoise step at a time, if you can find contentment in the fact that every day you are doing something positive in your life to fight your Parkinson’s, then you will experience this journey toward recovery as a glorious journey of recovery…healing your soul, and your mind, and your body.

You can do it. I know you can!

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

What a wonderful message in full. And so many phrases that in themselves hold so much meaning. For me “as I was becoming a new person” is so powerful – a reminder that we are slowly but joyfully moving into a new way of being, not running away in fear. When I first was diagnosed I was angry and afraid and just wanted my old life back. After my time with the recipe and you and all my fellow travelers, I’m looking forward to taking the final steps into New life.

Howard, thank you! Your wisdom comes deep from your very personal experience. It is so powerful and indeed inspirational for all of us out here in our day to day struggle against our symptoms and at the same time the sense and joy of being alive. Our struggle is a gift in disguise. It will lead us to recovery when we are ready. Your guidance is extremely precious.

Thank you for all you do Howard :^D Yesterday was the first day I could do the standing exercise holding the ball of energy without discomfort or bad tremors in my right hand. The left hand tremors were almost gone. I’ve been doing the recipe for 4 months maybe more. And it hasn’t been perfect attendance either. I let it go if I wasn’t able to do it perfect or skipped a day or was lazy. You’re right the main thing is to keep the faith. I remember disliking this exercise greatly when first doing it because I couldn’t for the life of me not have bad tremors in my right hand for greater than 30 secs. I’d have to bring my arm down cause it hurt too. Halleluala Howard!

    Dear Howard,
Thank you again for thr encouragement. Three nights ago as I lay trying to sleep, trying to ignore the tremor monster who thought it was the perfect time for FEAR…I felt like I connected to my Inner Divine/Higher Power. The cconnection said, “My peace I give to you.” I repeated it over and over, maybe 20 times before my thoughts drifted to something else. So while the something else was going on I realized the tremor had left. Peace was mine long enough to fall asleep. Laurie
