Okay! Here we are getting ready for the weekend, and I want to play a game with all of you. It is a self-monitored game, and we can play together for the next week. I will call it the Positive Thinking Only game.
As I have told you many times, you are not your symptoms. Since you are not your symptoms, you need to stop being obsessed with your symptoms. That, my friends, is the challenge of the game. Okay, I did not say it would be an easy game.
Here are the rules: Think positive thoughts, only, about your recovery. When negative thoughts enter your mind about your recovery, send them away. Here is some assistance:
Click here to give them to God or whoever it is to whom you pray.
Click here to bail fear from your boat.
Keep telling yourself, “I am not my symptoms.” Do not judge your symptoms as better or worse, good or bad. Do not consume yourself with what your symptoms are doing. Worrying about the future only makes them worse and it paints a picture to the Universe that you expect a worse future. Keep your thoughts light and joyful.

Parkinson’s is defined by symptoms. I have Parkinson’s, therefor I have symptoms. THAT’S IT! They mean nothing more than that you have Parkinson’s, which you already know and already have accepted. THAT’S IT!
You are doing the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery®, so whatever is going on in your life and your recovery is necessary in your life and your recovery, so smile, feel joyful, and SEE your recovery. Close your eyes and run or dance or drive your car or swim or ski or jump on the trampoline. SEE your recovery and open your heart to the joyfulness you will have on the inside as you experience your recovery.
SEE your recovery and feel joy in the journey.
Do not wait for your recovery. SEE IT AND BE IT…NOW!!!
That’s the game. Who wants to play? Who is willing to spend the next seven days being joyful in your heart and releasing all negative thoughts and emotions while transforming them into positive thoughts and emotions?
Come on and play. What have you got to lose?

I had a good start in a school function today where I was keeping smiling despite any symptoms, following advice from one of the last posts.

Just added “no negative thoughts! No fear!” To my calendar every day for a week. Though I am grateful to be fully recovered, and don’t have negativity or fear about Parkinson’s, there is still so much wisdom in these posts, still opportunities to grow and benefit. “The joy of the journey”, yes, indeed! I’m in! And my partner , Lawrence, too.

Please count me in also. There’s so much to be happy about, why let a few little symptoms get in the way of our happiness. When I was diagnosed, I saw an Ayurvedic doctor and his main piece of advice was not to focus on my symptoms. Now Howard, another wise man, is making the same profound point. Yeah Howard!

Oh Oh! Thought would be easy-ish. But it’s not! Had no idea about the rafts of critical, damning, blaming, arrogant, self-pitying, rageful, furious, outraged, etc. etc. thoughts that constantly crash on my shores with frothy fume… This is exhausting! But most illuminating… (Bye-bye any illusion of being nice!)

Congratulations, Jane!!! It was so surprising to me too to face the reality of my own load of negativity in its varied forms, too; doing so is a wonderful step of self-love, acceptance and opening to change.
This is very timely as usual. Thank you Howard. Before I even read your post today I woke this morning and for the first time since my diagnosis over a year ago I thought to myself : Today is a joyful day!
