I intend to take each part of the Recipe, physical, mental, and spiritual, and explain why it is in the Recipe and what it is doing for you in your recovery, deeply drilling down to the how and why it is helping you recover from Parkinson’s. Today is the seventh part: Awareness of Neural Impulses and Brain Vibration Chanting.
For those of you new to the blog, when I say “the Recipe,” I am talking about the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery®. Click here to review the full version of the Recipe.
Awareness of neural (electrical) impulses and brain vibration chanting
I did the brain vibration chanting to increase the energy in my brain. I did a slow moving exercises to learn where the impulses were going, and then I combined them and visualized the streamlined impulses so each side of the brain eventually was retrained to control the same side of the body rather than the opposite side.
Brain Vibration Chanting
Sit up straight and repeat the following chant as fast as possible for five minutes:
ling yow chee chee chee – joe ling bah
ling yow chee chee chee – joe ar ar sih sih
NOTE: sih sounds like sit without the “t”
(You should begin to feel a vibration in your head).
Awareness of neural (electrical) impulses
a. While standing still, slowly lift your right arm up to your side and then lower it; do this four times. Close your eyes and see if you can feel the impulses. Write down where you feel them; i.e., right side of neck, left knee….
b. Repeat entire a. exercise with your left arm.
c. While holding onto a countertop or something else for balance, slowly lift your right knee (as if marching) and then lower your foot to the floor; do this four times. Close your eyes and see if you can feel the impulses. Write down where you feel them.
d. Repeat entire c. sequence with your left knee.
NOTE: The next time you perform Brain Vibration Chanting, as you feel your brain vibrating, visualize the energy (electrical impulses) from the right side of your brain going down the right side of your body all the way to your right foot. Once you can visualize a smooth flow, then do the same thing for the left side of your brain vibrating all the way down the left side of your body to your left foot. Over time, when I performed the Awareness exercise above, I felt impulses only on the side of the body where I was moving an individual limb. This took time, so be patient.
I knew the Parkinson’s brain was low on energy, so I put Brain Vibration Chanting into the Recipe to increase the vibrational energy in my brain. These are Mandarin Chinese numbers arranged in a sequence to increase brain vibration.

Over the years, some people have explained that it is difficult to keep this going at a fast pace for five minutes. Of course, I say, “Do your best; it is good enough.” However, I also recommend that if a fast pace is difficult, then slow down the pace and lower the register of your voice as low as possible. This creates a deeper vibration and will be effective for you as well.

On the day I received my diagnosis, my neurologist put me through a large number of physical tests. Some of the tests he had me perform repetitive motion on one side of the body, which each time set off rigid, often painful, and uncontrolled movement on the other side of the body. When I asked what was going on, my neurologist explained that with Parkinson’s, there is often a mix-up in the cross over of right brain controlling the left side of the body and left brain controlling the right side of the body.
The following morning, I decided that I needed to feel where the electrical impulses in my body were going so I could work to control them. I remembered when I was young having learned about people who had a brain injury to one side of their brain leaving the opposite side of their body paralyzed, and that these people eventually were able to move their entire body. This told me that the non-injured part of their brain was able to move the same side of the body it was on, which at the time was paralyzed.
I felt that if I could re-train my brain to move the side of the body it was on, then I would not suffer from the cross-over issues experienced at the neurologist’s office. When I did the awareness of neural impulses, each time I moved a limb, I then closed my eyes and the only impulses I felt were on the opposite side of the body.
IMPORTANT NOTE: People who are on medications or who do not have much rigidity have reported to me that they feel nothing when doing this awareness exercise. If you do the awareness of neural impulses exercise and feel nothing, do not worry. This is for awareness of electrical impulses only, so you may skip this part and you will not hurt yourself in your recovery.Whether you have an awareness of what the impulses are doing or not, you still can control them with this next part.
The next time you perform Brain Vibration Chanting, as you feel your brain vibrating, visualize the energy (electrical impulses) from the right side of your brain going down the right side of your body all the way to your right foot. Once you can visualize a smooth flow, then do the same thing for the left side of your brain vibrating all the way down the left side of your body to your left foot. Over time, when I performed the Awareness exercise above, I felt impulses only on the side of the body where I was moving an individual limb. This took time, so be patient.
When doing visualization, I like to picture something that I know how it works in the physical world. For this one, I visualized the right side of my brain filled up with oil, and then strings going down my body. The oil slowly went down the strings to the right side of my neck, through my right shoulder, all the way down to my right hand, then down the strings from my neck through the right side of my torso, eventually reaching my right foot. When my entire right side was “full,” I shifted to the left side and repeated the entire visualization down the left side.
For those who completely feel they cannot perform a visualization, here is what I have recommended. At the beginning of this part, close your eyes and say, “Dear my Higher Power, I would like the right side of my brain to control the right side of my body and the left side of my brain to control the left side of my body. Please direct the energy where it needs to go for my health and recovery. Thank you.” This brings your intention inward. For the next few minutes, do some deep breathing to calm your mind and body to allow your intention to come to fruition. Do not have fear that if you cannot do the visualizations in the Recipe, you cannot recover. Please know, everything in the Recipe can be modified for you…you have nothing to fear!

You are worth it!!!
I will be back soon.
All my best,
Howard
Hi Howard, my friend you have the patience of a saint the way you are SO thorough in your explanations, FABULOUS! You truly Rock Howard. Thank you from my heart, for giving so much of yourself to all of us in this busy holiday season. My mom who is visiting said to tell you, you will be FOREVER in her prayers. She believes in Angels and truly knows you are one of mine and blesses you in all your work.
With Love and Huge Gratitude from me also.

Oil going down the strings? Waaaaaaaay better than trying to visualise light going through the body –might even help lubricating the aching joints. Thanks Howard, good idea! I will certainly try.
