Fighting Parkinson’s, and 2016…the year of love!

2016…the year of love. Let’s sit with this concept for a moment. 2016…the year of love. I have spent a lot of time, particularly in the last three posts of the 2015 emphasizing the need to love yourself in this journey to your Parkinson’s cure. When you learn to love yourself, you realize that there is no doubt that you are worthy and deserving of being cured. And you smile. Why? Because learning to love yourself feels so right…it helps you find the real you who has been inside you waiting to shine.

So, my friends, I decided that you do not need to take my word alone for how important it is to learn to love yourself. I am going to provide some other viewpoints to assist you with this concept.

Love.

Merriam-Webster online dictionary: “A feeling of strong or constant affection for a person.”

Dr. Zhi Gang Sha (Western and Chinese Medicine doctor): “Love melts all blockages.”

Marie (Cured of Parkinson’s doing the Recipe): “’What? She sits around loving herself???? I’ll tell you, I do, every chance I get.’”

Pratima (Cured of Parkinson’s doing the Recipe): “I am worth it. I am going to WIN.”

Betty (Cured of Parkinson’s doing the Recipe): “I can only think the mental/spiritual/emotional aspects of healing myself all fell into place.”

Helen (Cured of Parkinson’s doing the Recipe): “I looked at myself in the mirror a few days ago, not at my skin or hair, but deep into my eyes. I found someone there I respect, admire for her courage, strength and love. I felt compassion for myself and all I have experienced in life. I saw a shy, hurt, self as well. I kept looking at her and gave her love. I now am feeling a relationship and soul love for myself. I am going to keep doing this mirror looking till I am healed. Falling in love with my depth, my individuality, my soul.”

And, last but not least, the Beatles. That’s right, the Beatles:

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.

There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done.
Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung.
Nothing you can say, but you can learn
How to play the game
It’s easy.
Nothing you can make that can’t be made.
No one you can save that can’t be saved.
Nothing you can do, but you can learn
How to be you in time
It’s easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love. Love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love. Love is all you need.

There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known.
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown.
There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where
You’re meant to be
It’s easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love. Love is all you need.
All you need is love. (All together now).
All you need is love. (Everybody).
All you need is love, love. Love is all you need.
Love is all you need.
Love is all you need

The Beatles and I are in full agreement! If you look at these words carefully you will see it:

Nothing you can do, but you can learn
How to be you in time

They then say that all you need is love. In my post about being your real self, the first thing on the list of how to be your real self is, “1. Learning to love yourself.”

The Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® is a soul, mind and body recovery road map. As I wrote in yesterday’s post, “I did not like myself enough, certainly did not love myself, and absolutely felt it would be selfish to be trying to get better for me. I was so out of balance and I was flat out wrong about this point…I needed to love myself.” And you do, too!

As we begin 2016, let’s all proclaim it together:

2016…the year of love!

And, to give you a boost for a big dose of self love, here are the Beatles:

Happy New Year 2016!

Love, love, love to all of you!

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard

  16. Anita in England says:

This is so hard but I know it’s at the very core. I learned at a very early age that “Anita should never have been born” and I’ve spent a large part of my life trying to justify my existence. First chronic fatigue syndrome and now Parkinson’s have prevented me from rushing around and trying to save the world over the last few years! Now I need to learn to truly love myself; to really know that I am special just in the fact that I exist. I’ve started practising Helen’s “mirror looking” – thank you for writing so beautifully about this practice, Helen. Thank you, Howard, for this challenging post. Thank you, companions, for your comments.

    • Helen Gill says:

Good one Anita, you are special, you are love. Helen Aus.

    • Karen in Ireland says:

Ahhhhh Anita, God Love You. What a sad and cruel belief to give to a child. That little child is still in you, you can reassure her every day how wanted and special she is. God makes no mistakes. You were created for a reason. Your parents must have being going through their own challenges, to make you feel that way. You are only in your 6th decade of life. God still has love for you to share and to make a difference to others. You do so already in your share of you on here and your vulnerability in sharing your truth is precious and powerful. I’m so glad God created you. You ROCK my friend.
      Big Love, Karen xx

      • Anita in England says:

        Thanks, Helen and Karen, xx

      • Helen Gill says:

        Hear hear Karen!

      • Cynthia (from England) says:

That was a lovely post Karen. I’ve had a similar experience to Anita in the sense of not being wanted, but I only understood the full impact a few years ago and it answered a lot of questions. I developed a hard shell to defend myself and it’s only now that it’s truly breaking up. What a wonderful community we have here that we are able to open up without being judged, and start to learn how to live from the heart. God bless Howard and every one of my fellow warriors – I’d never make it without you xx

        • Karen in Ireland says:

Hi Cynthia, I’m glad you liked what I said. Like you, I get so much out of reading others comments. I think we all have pain in some form or another from our childhood. It is healing from those issues that is necessary in loving and accepting ourselves exactly as we are now. It’s like Pandora’s box, but it has to be opened. We’re all getting there. All our inner children now getting the love they need to heal. 🙂 xx
