Seven years ago, I began doing the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery®. Of course, back then it did not have a name…it was just what I was doing. At the same time, I began keeping a hand-written Parkinson’s Daily Journal. It is time to share my journal with all of you. Here is my October 21, 2009 journal entry, seven years ago today.
There is no entry in my journal for October 21, 2009. In looking at my October 22, 2009 journal entry, I am reminded that on the evening of October 20, 2009 I had a gallstone attack and ended up passing a gallstone. I was in bed the entire day of October 21, 2009 and did not write a journal entry.
So, today I will tell you this. On October 21, 2009, I could not do the physical part of the Recipe. I did not sit around all day worrying that it would ruin my recovery. Instead, I meditated and did spiritual work (the other 2/3 of the Recipe)…and of course, I slept a lot. This may seem like a small point, but it is one of the most important things you need to know in this recovery:
The Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® is a soul, mind, and body recovery program. You cannot exercise yourself out of this disease. You have to do all three parts for your recovery.
Click here for a reminder of how Parkinson’s is a symptom of your life being out of balance…soul, mind, and body. The Recipe helps you bring balance back into your life. You can do this!
You are worth it!!!
All my best,
Howard
Please note: I will be posting one post per day through the middle of November. If you subscribe to receive email notifications when I post new blog posts and you would prefer to not receive those daily email notifications, simply send me an email at howard@fightingparkinsonsdrugfree.com, and let me know that you do not wish to receive a daily email with a link to each post. I will remove you from the list through the middle of November and add you back on the list after the middle of November. However, I still would recommend you checking the blog on a regular basis as it will contain very useful information for understanding my journey and helping with your journey.
Keep up the good work
Thanx for the reminder, Howard.
Thank you Howsrd xx
Thanks, Howard!
I continue to read your posts to my husband, Don. He says he gets encouragement, the will, the inspiration, and the resilience to continue the recipe.
Don said that he keeps practicing the recipe and that he is getting more proficient at the exercises. He says that even though he is not yet doing them well he is getting better at it. Don says he now has a bit more patience from the effort.
Don wants to know if it is okay to do the brain chant with the neck exercises or should he be doing them separately.
Sincerely,
Karen
Yes, Karen and Don,
It is okay to do those together.
Blessings,
Howard
Thanks, Howard! Don is most appreciative!
🙂
You are so correct. Thank you!
