Fighting Parkinson’s, and getting to do the Recipe

In life, we have many things we have to do. Recently, a person said to me that he knew he had to do the Recipe in order to have his recovery, but he was having trouble finding the time. I asked him to shift his thinking to he “gets to” do the Recipe instead of he “has to” do the Recipe. How about you?

The Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® is available to all of you. Whether you feel you “have to” do the Recipe or “get to” do the Recipe is a small shift in attitude that can make a world of difference in how you approach your life and your recovery.

Take a look at the things in life that you feel you “have to” do. On careful examination, most if not all of those things feel like burdens or obligations. You do not look at them with enthusiasm or excitement.

Now, take a look at the things in life that you “get to” do. On careful examination, all of those things feel like gifts that have been bestowed upon you and you look at them with enthusiasm and excitement.

Let’s look at the Recipe. For me, the Recipe was a gift. In a world that said Parkinson’s was a life sentence of misery from a progressively degenerative neurological disease that they could not even slow or halt, let alone reverse or cure, simply put, having the Recipe and working on slowing, halting, reversing, and curing my Parkinson’s was seen by me as a gift.

If you look at the Recipe as a “have to,” then you probably see it as an obligation or burden in your day, and you approach it with no excitement. I would imagine that your soul, mind, and body response to your lack of excitement is lack of excitement as well.

If you look at the Recipe as a “get to,” then you probably see it as a gift, a grand opportunity to bring yourself back into balance, soul, mind, and body. And, while you are “getting to” do the Recipe, it occurs to you that you are a precious gift and that the Recipe is allowing you to treat yourself with love, kindness, and compassion.

Over time, you will realize that if you look at everything happening in your life as something you “get to” do for the simple reason that you are alive with your soul in a human being, then you will begin to see that this life is the most precious gift of all. With this life, you “get to” do what you want, including “getting to” cure yourself from Parkinson’s.

Thank you for reading this blog and allowing me to “get to” share with you my recovery and my thoughts about your recovery. I am grateful for each and every one of you.

Okay. Grab the Recipe with a new attitude, and let me hear all of you:

“I “get to” do the Recipe, which provides me the opportunity to slow, halt, reverse, and ultimately cure myself from Parkinson’s.”

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard

Thank You Howard. I agree with the “get to” attitude wholeheartedly. The first thing I do when I wake up in the mornings is to thank God for another day and thank him that I’m able to do the Recipe. I work full-time so I do the morning portion of the Recipe before work, afternoon portion on lunch hour and evening portion before bed. I will never be able to thank Howard enough for sharing this gift. It’s truly a blessing!

I couldn’t agree more! I’ve been frustrated and depressed but when I look at it from this perspective I am so thankful for the hope the recipe brings and the messenger!

    Love to you all,

Hi all, for me it’s more like “I’m grateful to” do the recipe as I could not function physically if I don’t do it each day. I can’t do it as well as I would like but my best is all I can do and thank God everyday that I get to do it. When I read that some of you work I think WOW! Every day for me is an hour by hour challenge to function even with a little medication still. I thank God when I manage each achievement. It is why I get so overwhelmed and weary because my mobility is so bad. Every day is different but truthfully no day is easy but I dig deep with gratitude and work at keeping my mind quiet. I don’t know how people manage who don’t have faith as God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are my Rock.
    Big love to all.

      Hi Karen
Well done you. I think you are amazing. You are always supportive of others despite your daily difficulties. Don’t worry about perfect Qigong. There are probably very few of us who can claim that one! Give yourself lots of love, you deserve it.

      Love from me too ☺

God is faithful – his word sustain me and help me get thru the day.
Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
      God bless you!

Wonderful timing to get this message. It was not hard for me to understand that I got to do the Recipe, and got to have Howard as inspiration for my journey.
I got to have hope, rather than despair and knew that was a gift.
But I sometimes forget that everything I do , I get to do by virtue of the amazing gift of being alive.
Today I get to work on my 2017 tax return. Perfect!!
