ELAINE J. IS SYMPTOM FREE HAVING FOLLOWED THE PARKINSON’S RECIPE FOR RECOVERY® FOR ONE YEAR!!!
Congratulations, Elaine!!! You did it!!!
Near the end of April of 2019, I received a Recipe manual order from a woman named Elaine. In July of 2019, I received an email from her explaining that she had been doing the Recipe for two months and wanted to discuss the possibility of coaching.
Elaine and I had our initial FaceTime in late July of 2019. On the FaceTime, I learned of her diagnosis of Parkinson’s at the beginning of 2019, and the fact that she been prescribed by her neurologist, and was taking, Selegiline, a Parkinson’s MAO inhibitor medication.
We discussed at length the soul, mind, and body aspects of the Parkinson’s and how that fit into a recovery based upon bringing oneself back into balance. Elaine, like many of you, suffered from tremors, very bad stiffness which made moving around difficult, social anxiety issues (i.e. increased tremors in social/work settings), and the same worthiness issues faced by mostly everybody with Parkinson’s.
Shortly after we started coaching, Elaine introduced herself to all of you by posting this comment on the blog:

Good Morning Friends:
Although I’m stepping in at the fray I feel I know most of you from months of reading Howard’s blogs – and THANK YOU Howard for those! You are all an inspiration and give great hope through this healing process. When I was diagnosed with PD all I could think about was getting back to the way I was…. but this process, this Recipe has brought a new quality to my life that I’m looking so forward to taking with me post-PD. Yes, it will be great to move effortlessly but before each step will be a simple note of gratitude for this life as it is and as it rolls out before me. Happy Healing to you All.”
Of course, I was elated to see that early on Elaine understood that the spiritual part of the recovery, the true sense of gratitude for this life, was a critical component in her recovery.
At the end of October, I announced the 2019 November to Remember 30-day Challenge. In response to the challenge, Elaine posted this comment on the blog:
“Elaine J says:

Count me in Howard!
I’m one of the “currently doing the Recipe” warriors; I have faith in and gratitude for Howard’s Recipe. It is a journey that began with letting go of the anger, fear and “why me??” that came with my PD diagnosis. Not easy! but possible with a little help from Howard, his Recipe and friends. Surrender.
And then, the best part begins – let in the joy, compassion and gratitude and once it starts it just grows. I plant a smile on my face and giggle once in a while when I’m doing the physical part of the Recipe and I find that pretty soon I’m feeling really good about myself and my life – and I am thankful that I ‘get to’ experience this 2nd awakening…that I get to meditate…that I get to rediscover the wonders of this life…
So, thank you again Howard, for this challenge. I’m going to add an extra 10 minutes of Medical Qigong for Liver (my favorite exercise put to music), and I’ll forge ahead with faith in my recovery from Parkinson’s.
Those in doubt, accept the challenge. It’s your life and your journey and with these tools you can’t go wrong.
The best to you all 🙂
Elaine J.”
So, once again, Elaine was not only sharing her journey, but also encouraging others just getting started to jump in the fray as well. As we wrapped up 2019 and the first blog post of the year was “Fighting Parkinson’s, and 2020…the year of gratitude!” there was Elaine again sharing her journey and connecting with all of you.
“Elaine J says:

Thank you Howard 🙏 my soul, mind and body are filled with gratitude…and joy…thankfulness…and acceptance. This Parkinson’s has opened my heart to discovering my “self” and for this I am truly grateful.
And to you for your fearless guidance along this journey I am truly grateful.
The path ahead into 2020 is filled with wonder and anticipation for what will be…faith in myself that I will have the courage to let Parkinson’s go…and love for my fellow travellers that they will find their peace.
Gratitude and love to all,
Elaine”
And, no, her recovery was not a “walk in the park.” Elaine’s recovery journey was filled with the same ups and downs everybody faces with fears, doubts, changing symptoms, good feelings, and bad feelings…the roller coaster that is this Parkinson’s recovery. The nice thing is that she was willing to talk about it on the blog when she felt moved to do so.

Amen! and thank you Howard. I am smiling and opening my heart – I’m finding healing in letting go of my mind and what I cannot control and at the same time letting go of my PD. This attitude thing does work and your guidance in staying the course when I’m having a “Stumbling in the Park” (my code for a really bad day) kind of day is greatly appreciated. Love to you all, it really is a beautiful life. Elaine”
In March of this year, things started to change in a truly positive way. Elaine had deeply begun to work on self-love. I was overjoyed when she explained to me that while working on self-love, she got out of bed one day and found her rigidity gone, just like that. She went to the gym and swam laps like nothing had ever prevented her from swimming those laps.
And then, Elaine shared the breakthrough with all of you:

Yes Howard, I AM WORTH IT! and thank you for giving me the confidence to believe it and to live it. My choice has been to do your “Recipe” every day – mind, soul and body and to believe, right to the core of my being that the PD symptoms that were paralyzing in life could be eliminated. Eight (short) months ago I began this journey with you and I’m living virtually symptom free now. A small tremor in one hand is the last vestige of this beast and it too will be tamed – I have no doubt.
Probably the greatest gift you’ve given is in guiding and “giving permission” to LOVE MYSELF. And I do! It makes all the difference : – )
And so my journey continues, a little lighter and with a smile that’s a little broader. I’ll continue the Recipe every day, just because I love it and I will live my life to the fullest with love and compassion for all those around me.
Anyone thinking of doing the Recipe?? Just BELIEVE and DO IT! It will give you the tools you need to come to peace with your body, mind and soul and overcome PD.
Love, hope and peace to you all.
Elaine”
Please take note of the importance of the self-love aspect of this recovery from Parkinson’s. In Elaine’s words: “Probably the greatest gift you’ve given is in guiding and “giving permission” to LOVE MYSELF. And I do! It makes all the difference : – )”
The following day, March 26, 2020, Elaine sent me an email informing me that she had taken her final Selegiline and was no longer on Parkinson’s medications.
Nearly a month after eliminating her medication, she was still seeing the remaining physical symptoms leaving. However, as she candidly acknowledges, some of the emotional baggage was still hanging around:

Thank you Howard! Your message hits right where I need it today. I’ve been wallowing and moping and feeling “not quite good enough” because its (the PD) “not quite gone enough”. Time to flip the switch to JOY; time to STOP obsessing with every little twitch happening in my body and definitely time to just CELEBRATE with thanksgiving and joy everything positive that is in and around me.
Thank you for the reminder and thank you for always believing….
Spring is in the air and healing in the wind that swirls around us.
Peace and joy to all,
Elaine”
Here we are, one month after Elaine wrote in her blog comment, “Spring is in the air and healing in the wind that swirls around us,” and we are celebrating Elaine’s healing that was in the wind and swirling all around her.
Congratulations, Elaine!!! You worked very hard on your recovery. You faced the trials and tribulations, the symptom changes, the anxiety, the fears and worries and doubts, the self-judgment and self-criticism…AND YOU SLAYED THEM ALL!
I am overwhelmed with joy, love, gratitude, and blessings for all you have been through to get to where you are now. Wow, wow, wow!
Elaine will be going back to her neurologist to receive medical confirmation of her full recovery. As a result of COVID-19 and restrictions that are in place, she does not know when that will be. We will let you know when it happens.
CONGRATULATIONS, ELAINE! You did it. Symptom free full recovery from Parkinson’s Disease. Love and blessings to you, my dear friend.
Who’s next?
You are worth it!!!
All my best,
Howard

Thank you all for your kind words!
I recall telling Howard, about six months into doing the Recipe, that I had had a dream where I saw myself on the far bank of a muddy raging river waving and smiling at the quite forlorn me on the other side. I knew then that I was going to recover!
Howard, thank you for being the beacon on the other side of that river, carefully guiding me across. I am forever grateful.
Take care fellow warriors and BELIEVE in yourself and your recovery.
Love to you all,
Elaine
Hooray hooray hooray we found our number 7. Elaine what can I say that has not been said. Joyous post and so powerful the amount of people who you have affected by your recovery and this victory over Parkinson’s. It could not have happened to a nicer warrior. I love your posts and you are so eloquent in them.
You Rock! I hope you enjoy a nice glass ( or two ) of bubbly to celebrate .

Huge congratulations Elaine, it’s fantastic to hear your news. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy💕💕💕💕
Congratulations, Elaine! Wonderful wonderful news! Reading about your recovery and the words you wrote in your posts brought joy to my heart. And gratitude for the wonderful gift of the life changing Recipe for Recovery and for Howard’s encouragement and guidance.
There are many inspiring words in your posts through the time of your recovery, but this, from August, really struck me:
“When I was diagnosed with PD all I could think about was getting back to the way I was….but this process, this Recipe has brought a new quality to my life that I’m looking so forward to taking with me post-PD.”
It points so beautifully to the tremendous internal changes you made opening to the new you and to a new and better life. It is so profound because, of course, for all of us, there is never a getting back to what was. Only moving forward.
Thank you for sharing the dream you had, too. What a great dream! It is an amazing journey you have been on! Thank you for sharing it with us all. Sending you heartfelt congratulations.
May your life continue to be filled with gratitude, joy, and abundance!
With love from your grateful and self-loving sister in recovery,
Marie
Ty Marie and Elaine and Howard. You have all helped so much, I can’t really put it into words
Elaine, such wonderful news! Thank you for sharing your journey and the gift of your recovery, for fighting and winning! It is a blessing all around! And thank you to Howard for shepherding us all through this gauntlet of Parkinson’s. So much to be thankful for!
You are an inspiration to all of us. Congratulations Elaine!
I join everybody here with congratulations and joy for Elaine and all of us on this journey. A shot of hope for us all. We can do this! We are doing it! Such a great reminder for me to love myself.
Congratulations Elaine on your success with the Recipe and commitment to your recovery, you are truly an inspiration and have articulated the struggles and successes so clearly. The fact that we can all connect and share our path is because of how well Howard has set the tone of honest sharing and dedication to the spiritual path as well as the physical part of the journey. Thank you Howard!
What helps me see that I am moving along on my path of success is that the “old me” would have used this news to feel disappointed that I am not Quite there yet, instead I’m celebrating with you and experiencing Hope for the future. Thanks for your honesty regarding the challenges as well. It is a miracle and an opportunity for all us to heal and shift our perspectives- loving ourselves and having gratitude instead of indulging in deprival. Love 💗 to all. Pamela
Congratulations Elaine and thank you thank you.
It means so much to hear your success, just the encouragement we need to hitch to your shining star.
Love and blessings – Sue

Congratulations Elaine, and thank you. Thank you for sharing your journey, we all gain more spark in the battery from your success. I am also at the stage where the only remaining symptoms are a mild tremor to the left arm (named Ubu, as in “Sit, Ubu, good dog). Ubu’s days are numbered. I do not know how many people are in the successful group, but I want one of those numbers. I don’t care which one, because if it is a big number, that means that I am in good company. Also, thanks to Howard and Sally..your book and continuing work are truly life saving.
Wow Neville that is awesome !
Thanks for the reference to “Ubu, as in ‘Sit, Ubu, good dog.'” It made me chuckle out loud. :))
Hi Elaine and congratulations ! I am so happy for you ……
What fabulous news Elaine! You showed great strength. You believed and you knew you would recover from Parkinson’s. You followed the recipe! That took great perseverance and courage, as well as gratitude and self love. And of course, Howard’s guidance and inspiration. Congratulations! Congratulations! And Congratulations! Xxxx Helen Australia
Elaine – what a wonderful gift you gave yourself, Self Love!! Congratulations 🎈🎊 and thank you for your heartfelt, honest sharing.
I am very grateful that I have a PD because, working with Howard I can see how my symptoms are my gifts! My true, repressed young life history, is stored up in my body, which attempts to recount it and to be listened to, by the way of my PD symptoms.
As a child I had no choice but to learn the skills of repression in order to survive, and with Howard’s relentless, joyful support I am able to breakdown the repression, feel my emotional pain, grow, and ultimately love Me! … No Gain without Pain! 😉
I am truly grateful for finding Howard and his extended PD family … all of you!
Elaine, if ever I feel reluctant to do the physical part of the Recipe I will think of you and do it!!! Thank you for giving me a gift of hope and trust!
With much love to all,
Ola
Respected Howard sir. My heartiest congratulations to you on recovery of Elaine. Your selfless sharing of recipe with PD patients…one more feather in your cap. Congratulations to Elaine, you made it…with your persistence, patience and perseverance…I also want to be next in the list of survivors…I pray to the Almighty for giving me that chance. Love you all fellow warriors, Mona
Elaine, congratulations x 1,000!! This is great news and quite encouraging. Thanks for sharing your inspirational journey.
Congratulations, Elaine! And thank you, Elaine and Howard, for the reminder of how much of our experience with the diagnosis, the belief that we can and will heal, and just life in general is a spiritual one!! Hip hip hooray! There is joy in every day!!
Congrats Elaine! My heart is filled with joy and happiness for you. You are an inspiration
to us all. Your success gives me added hope that my journey to recovery will be successful too. Howard I am grateful to you for your continuing guidance and encouragement.
Congratulations Elaine and thank you for sharing your encouraging example. May your example inspire all of us to achieve success.

Hi Elaine…my heartiest congratulations on your recovery, n a big thank you to Howard sir. You r the example that we, all other warriors, will also follow your path sooner or later. Let’s hope for our bright future. Enjoy your life PD free.
So pleased for you and very proud.
Congratulations Elaine!!! Very inspiring to read. Enjoy!!!
Congratulations, Elaine!! This is fantastic news!!!
Customarily, it is always my habit to check comments with the hope that someone is reporting or experiencing some sort of recovery, so this HUGE announcement was certainly the most wonderful surprise that I been hoping to hear.
I applaud you for the extraordinary diligence and mental fortitude you applied realizing that with extra effort you would recover from PD and you did! It gives so much encouragement to everyone in this community to never give up.
I’m especially thankful for the encouragement it gives my husband (who perseveres with firm determination to stick to the recipe…never missing one) to continue to stay away from drugs.
Many thanks go especially to Howard for his motivation to make it all possible and his continuous guidance.
Rosa
Congratulations Elaine and thank you for sharing your success with all of us! Your recovery – or should I say, transformation – is inspiring and I am encouraged by your wonderful news. ❤️ I have signed on for the coaching and look forward to each meeting with Howard on FaceTime. The doctor’s diagnosis in 2016 devastated me and I fell into a deep dark spiral – but something within told me there had to be a way out. A long search led me to Howard – a beacon of light. I am now feeling hopeful and focusing on 🙏 gratitude.
Wishing you the best, Elaine!!
And thank you Howard!
Huge CONGRATS to you Elaine. You are amazing with the way that you inspire and encourage me in my personal journey.
I am realizing more and more the absolute importance of just doing the Recipe and with attitude. I find myself giving lots of gratitude and opening up my heart to the Holy Spirit. It’s been just a year since I found Howard and began this wonderful journey with him. GOD BLESS YOU my friend. I know I am getting my recovery too.
Lots of Love
David
Congratulations.
Thank you Howard for the story on Elaine’s recovery. It is so encouraging to me. It gives me such hope.
