Fighting Parkinson’s, and let’s create more conflict

Okay! Are you ready to create more conflict? Of course you are! After a week of telling your mind, “No, you are wrong. I am getting better!!!” it is time to step it up to a higher level and create even more conflict with your illusory mind.

That’s right, your illusory mind. If you are doing the soul, mind, and body recovery practices of the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery®, then you are getting better, always getting better. When your mind tells you otherwise by increasing symptoms, this is just an illusion of your mind. That is why relentlessly telling your mind “No, you are wrong. I am getting better!!!” is a truthful critical component as you move forward in your recovery.

However, your mind knows you well and it will seek to wear you down. After one week, it will take on a new tactic to frighten you. Some people have reported to me seeing symptoms at levels they have not seen before and seeing depression at levels that they have not seen before as a result of creating conflict with their minds. Through meditation, prayer, and “No, you are wrong. I am getting better!!!” they have prevailed.

Okay! Let’s step this up and stay one leap ahead of the illusory minds that plague the beautiful-and-radiant-soul people with Parkinson’s.

First, it requires repeating an important point: What makes this process work is knowing that when you are doing the soul, mind, and body recovery practices of the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery®, then you are getting better, always getting better.

Step 1. Anything that you physically are doing, tell yourself, “This is a sign of me getting better.”

Step 2. Your soul is untouched by Parkinson’s. In your soul, you are already better. So, just as your mind is trying to increase symptoms to defeat the relentless “No, you are wrong. I am getting better!!!” that you have been throwing at it, you are going to turbo charge your resolve with “No, you are wrong. I am already better!!!” Your mind will not know what to do, and your body will rejoice.

Step 3. If you are taking anything for your Parkinson’s, here is an extra turbo charge for you. When you do not like something going on physically, tell your mind, “No you are wrong. This is my side effects and off-time withdrawal symptoms!!!” And, be relentless.

As Will Smith states in After Earth, “Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist.”

Stay in the present moment. If you are physically moving, that movement is in the present moment, “This is a sign of me getting better.” If a symptom increases, that symptom increase is in the present moment, so keep it in the present moment with the truthfulness of, “No, you are wrong. I am already better!!!” and “No you are wrong. This is my side effects and withdrawal symptoms!!!”

What is missing? Fear. Since “the only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future,” if you stay in the present moment in faith, fear is vapor, your mind is an illusion, and you live fearlessly.

How’s that for creating more conflict!

You can do it!!

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard

    Hi all,
I’m all for this one. It’s so exciting to me to keep ahead of my mind in this way. Yay! The fearful mind won’t have a chance and will have to fade away.
Best wishes everybody on this worthy journey.

Oh dear, this takes a lot of trust, perseverance and faith.
The question I have is: doesn’t this fight put me in the adrenaline mode?

    • Howard says:

      No, Petra.

It puts you in dopamine mode. It is the compassionate thing to tell yourself — truthful statements filled with faith and joy. It helps you get out of fear-based “fight or flight” and into heart-felt, love-based, faith-based, joy-based dopamine flow.

It is like comforting yourself by saying, “Don’t worry. Everything is okay here.”

      Love and blessings,
      Howard

Howard, this is wonderful guidance. Thank you!
“No you are wrong. This is my side effects and withdrawal symptoms!!!”
    Definitely helpful.

    Respected Howard sir,
It is difficult task to be in conflict with mind. But, as you suggest, if we convince it that symptoms are due to withdrawal of drug, it becomes a good logic. I will fight with my mind and am sure to defeat it one day with help of the recipe. Thanks for showing the right path regards, Mona

NO YOU ARE WRONG I AM GETTING BETTER!!!!!
My inner renegade is bursting out Lol!
I am currently on a low dose of a supplement and attributed my symptoms to PD when my dose wore off. It dawned on me this week (after I looked up the side effects) that these symptoms are most likely withdrawal and side effects, thank you Howard for clarification! I am going to be relentless and on a mission to totally eliminate what’s left of this pesky supplement, little by little, and Recovery here I come!!
    My dopamine cup runneth over!!!!!
NO YOU ARE WRONG I AM GETTING BETTER!!!!!

  6. Alison says:

Fighting fear! The hardest part of getting better, I think, but central!
Let’s keep at it as best we can!
    Love to all

  7. Tery and Werni says:

Thank you Howard, your explanations are very helpful to understand, how complex the whole PD situation is… not always logical at the first sight…. but you help us to understand👍Thank you!

  8. Chris Meyer says:

So we fight the mind for control by challenging its assertions whether they come in the form of fears and doubts or apparently enhanced symptoms.

We can take comfort and rejoice knowing our, the soul’s, side of the argument is correct and will prevail. It’s just a matter of dogged persistence.

    Sounds like a plan!

    Thanks Howard.

    Blessings to all,

    Chris

  9. Pat Romero says:

I’ve been having a lot of trouble with this lately. And when I do it, makes me dizzy and out of things. It makes it even harder to fight, but fight I must. So, I’ll keep telling my mind how it is. I’ve been walking across the back yard lately at 5 in the evening and I’m doing pretty well with it without holding Manuel’s hand, just by myself. That has to be worth something. So mind, get over yourself!!!

  10. Dianna says:

NO YOU ARE WRONG. I AM GETTING BETTER. I will be relentless in telling my Parkinson’s mind that. At present I know when I am thinking with the Nonparkinson’s or the Parkinson’s mind. The Parkinson’s mind is sneaky and tries to devalue my efforts towards recovery. Now I will have a new voice
for dismissing those self defeating thoughts. Thank you again Howard for your insights and guidance.

  11. Rabindar says:

Thank you Howard, as usual you understand our minds and come up with excellent answers to our concerns.
This mantra “NO you are wrong. I am GETTING BETTER” will helps us overcome the conflict created by the mind.

    Blessings and Best wishes

  12. Bob W says:

Fearless joy! I like not being afraid. I like being joyful. I’m leaping. I’m healing. I’m living!

And it’ll all be OK mind. It’ll really be OK. Tantrum if you must but trust me. My faith is strong.

Thank you Howard for wisdom and blessings.

  13. Dora says:

This is so right and so positive. I find myself arguing with my mind a lot too. I’m also using a word just learned from my QIgong reading: Haola- all is well and getting better. Those affirmations are very helpful and I know in my heart it will lead me to recovery. Thank you Howard

  14. Melanie S says:

No you are wrong, I am already better!!
Any positive comment to myself makes me shake terribly. How sad is that! Mind, you are wrong, I am getting better! Take that and that!

  15. Karen in Ireland says:

Hi Howard, fabulous post. I especially want to say thank you for step 3…for those of us who are doing our very best but have to medicate right now…it means a lot and is very much appreciated as we too get confused if we are struggling, whether it is side effects of meds or withdrawal of drug or confirmation of healing, so bless you for that.
Big love to you and all warriors!

  16. Petra says:

Metaphor: when you are used to thinking “it’s incurable,” it takes focus to think “it’s curable.”
I feel changing the focus .

Looks like this ballerina: put your focus different then you see her turning to the other side!
