Fighting Parkinson’s, and increased symptoms…and being excited!

Okay. Here we go: Acceptance. Surrender. Gratitude. Nurturing the seed of God inside you. And, what happens? Initially, you get increased symptoms. However, you need to be excited because this is an incredible sign that you are getting better!

Let’s begin with some ground rules. If you are doing nothing about your Parkinson’s, you will get worse. This is how all of us ended up at the neurologist’s office. If you are doing the Western medicine treatment plan and you are doing nothing else to try to heal from Parkinson’s, you will get worse. This is the promise they make you on the day of diagnosis.

However if you are not doing the Western medicine treatment plan, or you are doing the Western medicine treatment plan, and in each case you also are doing the soul, mind, and body recovery protocol of the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery, then you are getting better!

Here is an explanation of how I see the healing taking place, and it will give you an increased understanding of holistic healing and how it applies to your recovery doing the Recipe.

On our way to becoming ill, our body is getting out of shape and out of alignment, and as a result of our body being a survival organism, it is very good at making the little adjustments it needs to make along the way to help us survive in the best possible way physically. These are subtle changes and they build up under the surface (like the mountain of ice building up under the surface until the tip of the iceberg “symptoms” show up at the top).

When we are working at our healing, as we are making progress, all of those little adjustments that have been made with the bones, ligaments, tendons, meridians, blood vessels, muscles, lymph flow, etc., have to put back into the correct working order.

The undoing, and the correction, will bring on more shaking with the adjustment of energy, more stiffness with the change of muscles and ligaments and tendons, and more discomfort as the body is realigned. This is necessary to bring the body back into balance, and there is nothing to be afraid of. Instead of being afraid, be excited!

Here is an example of something you can say if you are dealing with freezing issues or getting stuck (you can adjust the language to fit the situation):

“Thank you God for whatever is the healing that you are giving me and needing all of my energy in this moment which is causing me to freeze. I will relax for a moment so that you have all of my energy. I am grateful for the healing. Thank you, I will take it from here.” Then, you do a little deep breathing to relax and then tell yourself, “Okay body, you know how to walk, just take a step.”

Acceptance. I accept the temporarily increased symptoms. God’s will.
Surrender. Nobody owes me an explanation for the temporarily increased symptoms. God’s will.
Gratitude. Thank you for the healing that is resulting in temporarily increased symptoms. God’s will.
Free will: I am choosing the path less travelled and choosing to recover from Parkinson’s by doing the Recipe. I am healing from the depths of my soul by nurturing the seed of God inside me and as my soul is filling me up with joy and pushing the toxins of the mind and body to the surface, the result is temporarily increased symptoms. As God is using my energy from doing the Recipe to heal me, the result is temporarily increased symptoms. I am excited for the healing that is taking place even if it means temporarily increased symptoms. Thank you! I am grateful! I am excited!

If you are doing the Recipe, then temporarily increased symptoms means that you are healing. Be excited!

You are so much more than Parkinson’s symptoms. Think about it. How does most of the rest of the world define you? By how your symptoms look. How sad is that?

Simply put, they do not understand Parkinson’s recovery doing the Recipe. They do not understand holistic healing and the healing crises that occur during recovery. And, they do not understand that you are a luminous soul on your Parkinson’s recovery journey and that you will not be defined by physical body symptoms!

Do not let others define you by your symptoms. Be faithful! Be courageous! Be excited! You are doing the Recipe and you are having a Parkinson’s recovery. How about that!!!

You can do this!

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard

Thanks Howard for the wonderful message. Yes a lot people don’t understand Parkinson’s, I didn’t either until I got it. I get a lot of funny and strange looks when I tell them I’m doing the Parkinson’s recovery, its only because they don’t understand, so now I keep it simple by saying I’m getting better every day and yes I have full faith doing the recipe and in God. Very exciting, let’s show the world. 11 weeks into my recovery now. Love and blessings to everyone

  2. Gina says:

Encouraging post, Howard! Have a great weekend!

I have to admit that my symptoms get worse and I experience a lack of trust .
It’s a daily battle with the mind to keep trust. So working with the body is not as difficult as working with the mind.

    Keep on going 🌺🌺🌺

    • Cynthia (from England) says:

It’s a constant battle with the mind Petra, I find the same and it’s difficult when symptoms overwhelm you to look beyond what you’re seeing. Hang in there, you’re doing great, whether you feel it or not. That’s what my friend in Ireland keeps telling me!! X

      • Karen in Ireland says:

        Hi Cynthia , I guess that’s meeeeeeeeee. Lol. 😇
        Love you friend xx
Petra I totally agree with you. Your soul will win the battle in the end, you’ll see xx 😉

3 months into the recipe + extra. 2 months Sinemet free. I was so much better after the meds. stopped as the side effects were horrendous. My symptoms have deteriorated slightly over the last week so I know I am recovering. The only parts of the recipe I don’t do are the lifting arms and legs for neural pathways visual as I couldn’t feel it. Also your brain chant, as I get only a vibration chanting the Buddhist ‘Ohhm’. I also massage the govenor meridian using an acupen recommended by an acupuncturist friend. It reaches all the spine. Thankyou Howard for your continued support. I believe!

    • Karen In Ireland says:

Hey there fellow countryman, nice to see someone else from Ireland posting. 😀

    • Val Haynes says:

Thanks for the ‘Ohhm’ tip, Ray. I’ve tried it and it works for me. Isn’t it great that we can all share our experiences of doing the Recipe and magnify the energy coming from Howard?

  6. Ruthann says:

Because exhibiting worse symptoms (while doing the recipe) and actually getting worse (because that is the nature of this disease), appear similar symptomatically, it is difficult to school the mind into a positive interpretation of symptoms.
I guess faith is the ONLY answer as there seem to be few encouraging signposts (other than Howard’s gentle encouragement) along the way.

  7. Penny Wassman says:

Gratitude to you, dear Howard, for your inspiring messages and ongoing encouragement. I am thrilled to notice significant relaxation of PD tremors…almost complete quieting as I surrender and focus on breathing into the experience, fully accepting the learning and healing offered to me in that moment and feeling peace and huge gratitude for the support this simple practice offers me. In fact those three words (surrender, acceptance, and gratitude) are increasingly becoming my mantra for recovery…my dear husband, Ray, has noticed and often points out times when my tremors have completely ceased.

  8. Jeffrey Callen says:

Just the right encouragement at just the right time. I havre been noticing healing in my movements—I.e., getting in and out of chairs is surprisingly easy alongside increased stiffness in my legs

  9. Tery and Werni says:

Thanks dear Howard, great post again!!

  10. Virginia Torrance says:

Thank you so much Howard for your encouraging words. I am so grateful for the recipe and I know recovery is mine.

  11. Dora says:

Howard, thank you so much for taking the time to write these blogs with positive vibes for all of us. Yes, I have heard over and over again from other QIgong practitioners about symptoms increasing before chronic diseases start to heal and I know you Know what you are talking about based on your own Parkinson experience, you know it well. Thank you for all your dedication to this cause.

  12. Jan Maw says:

Thank you Howard – helping us all to keep the faith – healing and health to all the warriors in the PD battle xx Jan UK

  13. Karen In Ireland says:

Hi Howard, very encouraging post. My symptoms rampant, I don’t have long to go lol.
Still positive, still surrendering , still full of faith, hope and still have my sense of humour, thank God.
Big love to you and fellow warriors.
    Karen xx 💕

  14. Jimmy says:

HELLO TO MY OLD FRIENDS AND NEW …….THANK YOU VERY MUCH HOWARD FOR YOUR WISDOM. I AM BACK AGAIN WITH MORE ENERGY TO WIN PARKINSON,

  15. Kevin says:

Thank you Howard. It is easy to be self conscious about the outward symptoms. I caught myself this morning wondering what if others noticed or were concerned with my tremors. I had to tell my self “OK.” OK that it is God’s will that they notice and that they do not understand what recovery looks like. OK that the increased symptoms will be present as the healing is in progress. Grateful that healing is occurring and that others care.

  16. Ashok says:

Thank you Howard for this wonderful and inspiring message!

  17. Rabindar says:

    Dear Howard,
Another great post on increased symptoms and getting excited about it during the Recovery phase. During the recovery I have begun to have the freezing phases and stiffness. During these phases I shall now chant the Words which you have written to overcome this situation.
    Thank you

  18. Ola Stasiak-Brough says:

Thank you Howard for normalizing and bringing hope!

I decided to do some gardening because last week we had a freeze in Texas and we had lost many plants :-((

My body refused to co-operate … very intense stiffness, ridgity, tremors, freezing etc. To overide my negative mind trying to convinced me that I am getting worse, I kept saying over and over “thank you God for whatever is the healing that you are giving me and needing all of my energy in this moment which is causing me to … … …”

Then, I practiced deep breathing and acceptance, surrender and gratitude!! The symptoms did not lessen, but I finished my gardening. I am a winner, not my PD!!! :-))

    Love to All,

    Ola

    Thank you

Thank you Howard and this fabulous community of Souls who are committed to this journey of a lifetime. I have been struggling emotionally as the symptoms come and go.
But a couple of events gave me pause and reminded me of the progress I am making.
I had my annual bloodwork done, Everything was within normal range, my liver and Kidney function was great, my cholesterol was great, particularly the ratio of HDL to LDL and red and white blood cells as well as thyroid. So I am healthy.
