Fighting Parkinson’s, and thirteen years ago today

Thirteen years ago on September 28, 2009, I began doing the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery. Of course, back then it did not have a name…it was just what I was doing. At the same time, I began keeping a hand-written Parkinson’s Daily Journal. Here is my October 13, 2009 journal entry, thirteen years ago today.

“10/13/09. Tuesday. Up at 4. Slow again. Got to the kitchen at 4:09, unbelievable. Sally and I discussed Dr. Sha and some of the things he has to offer.

I remember typing up a # chant for the brain, and I found it. I did it this morning and my entire head vibrated. I will do it for 5 minutes at least three times a day and see if it helps. It was energizing.

Lunch was great – since nobody is around, I try really hard to get past the freeze that occurs when I pick up any food with the utensil. No luck…it moves to my mouth very slowly in about 6-8 independent movements.

I tried left-handed and thought my bones would crack before I could get my food to my mouth. How disappointing. Did the kidney and liver Qigong today just like every other day.

Sally and I discussed other things from Dr. Sha’s Soul Mind Body Medicine book. I will implement them.”

The Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® had started growing. The “# chant” is Brain Vibration Chanting, which I added then to the Recipe. The additional things from Soul Mind Body Medicine were Near Hand Far Hand, Parts 1 and 2, which I added to the Recipe as well.

As far as the rest of what I wrote…slow, stiff, couldn’t get my food to my mouth without a fight…it was another day with Parkinson’s, much like the one before and probably much like the next day that would come. Acceptance that it was going to be this way did not come without the occasional “unbelievable” or “how disappointing.” I think all of you understand that.

Part of what I am getting at here is that even though some days were difficult, they did not detract from the fact that I knew I would have a recovery, and I was looking to build a physical part of the Recipe that would fill the healing gaps based upon Parkinson’s various physical experiences.

So, if today you are feeling that the Parkinson’s experiences in your recovery are unbelievable and disappointing, you are in good company. I am over 12 years cured of Parkinson’s and you are on your way.

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard
