Fighting Parkinson’s, and okay…and faith

On January 1st, I posted that 2025 is the year of self-acceptance. As we move forward together in 2025, I will help you elevate the “self-acceptance” aspect of your recovery so that you may relax into accepting yourself unconditionally right now.

As expressed in the previous two blog posts, okay stood for acceptance. Then, we elevated “okay…acceptance” to a stronger acceptance called “okay, apparently….” Today, we take acceptance into a higher level of acceptance and faith.

Acceptance and Faith. Here is a level of acceptance I reached that required a strong amount of faith in the importance of one’s existence: “Okay. I accept that everything that has happened in my life right up until now has had to happen exactly how it happened for me to be where I am right now.” Say this with me: “Okay. I accept that everything that has happened in my life right up until now has had to happen exactly how it happened for me to be where I am right now.”

Everything that has happened in your life right up until this moment was part of your existence, your life journey thus far. If you remove judgment of yourself from the mind, then you can accept that everything in the past had a purpose in your life journey whether you understand it or like it…and, it is in the past…just accept that it had to happen exactly how it happened and you never have to look back and judge yourself again. This is an important part of freeing the mind and liberating your life.

The past is exactly that: THE PAST! Let it go and you let go of self-judgment, self-criticism, and self-loathing over what should have, would have, or could have been.

Say this again with me: “Okay. I accept that everything that has happened in my life right up until now has had to happen exactly how it happened for me to be where I am right now.”

To assist you with feeling this level of acceptance, think of someone or something that exists in your life right now for which you are grateful. If there are things in the past that you do not wish to accept had to happen exactly how they happened, how do you know that the changing of one thing to negate those things would not have had the result of setting off a course of action that the “someone or something for which you are grateful” ceases to exist in your life right now.

Accept the past without judgment of yourself. If you woke up each day without a memory of the past, you would be prepared to accept the day as it rolled out in front of you. There would be no judgment of “now” compared to “the past” because the past would cease to exist. There would be no “my symptoms seem worse today than yesterday.” There would be no “I should have done it this way instead of that way.” There would be no self-judgment, self-criticism, or self-loathing over what should have, would have, or could have been because the past would not exist.

Acceptance that the past had to happen exactly how it happened helps close the door to the past and puts you a step closer to being in the moment and a step closer to self-acceptance. This level of acceptance requires a large amount of faith. This is the faith that says, “I am special because I exist. Everything has happened just as it needed to happen in my life journey.”

Here is the progression of acceptance from the last two weeks’ blog posts to today’s blog post:

Two weeks ago, step 1: “Okay, I accept the reality in front of my face.”
Last week, step 2: “Okay. Apparently, the reality I just accepted was supposed to happen.”
Today, step 3: “Okay. I accept that everything has happened just as it needed to happen in my life journey.”

Each week, we break down the ego mind more and more by becoming accepting of what is real in our lives right here, right now.

In the comments below, it would be great to hear what is your level of acceptance of your life journey even with temporary Parkinson’s symptoms. Can you say, “Okay. I accept that everything that has happened in my life right up until now has had to happen exactly how it happened for me to be where I am right now.”

You can do this! I know you can!

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard

In light of the increased tremors I’ve experienced over the past few days, I choose to accept this as part of my journey. I recognize that everything, including Parkinson’s Disease, tremors, spasms, rigidity, and weakness, is ultimately for my highest good. Despite the challenges, I trust that only good will come from these experiences in the future.

I embrace all that has transpired in my life to this point. I am grateful for the journey and the lessons it has brought, as they have shaped me into a better person. I hold the belief that once I have learned the lessons presented to me by Parkinson’s Disease, I will emerge as a healthier, more resilient individual.

I open my heart to the possibilities that lie ahead, knowing that each challenge is an opportunity for growth and self-healing.

I’m grateful I got Parkinson’s because it has taught me the path I was headed down was not the right path for me (I wasn’t even conscious of this though) and I’ve learned so much that is and will help me be who I am and not who I thought I was supposed to be.
Acceptance is a key part of recovery and making my full recovery.
