Fighting Parkinson’s, and you are allowed to be calm and peaceful

The mind likes status quo. Status quo with Parkinson’s is having symptoms. It is time to change the status quo to allowing yourself to be calm and peaceful.

The ego mind likes status quo

The ego mind likes status quo. Also, it does not like surprises. It likes consistency, familiarity, and predictability. Then it feels safe and secure. Change is threatening to the mind’s idea of safety and security, but you cannot heal and recover without positive change.

Status quo prior to Parkinson’s

Prior to Parkinson’s, I considered myself a healthy person. Status quo for me prior to Parkinson’s: I am a healthy person. The idea that I was a healthy person was filled with consistency, familiarity, and predictability.

A few years before the diagnosis, Sally pointed out to me that the whites of my eyes were yellowy and bloodshot. I blamed it on wearing my contact lenses for too many hours and I switched to wearing my glasses.

Also during this time, my left arm was in terrible pain and not usable for daily activities. I told my family that I had been doing a lot of phone conferences and probably had my arm bent for too many hours a day on these calls. I started using my right hand and arm for everything.

I will not bore you with the number of excuses I had for everything that was going wrong with my physical body over those three years, including gaining an extra 21 pounds from my normal adult life weight. Doesn’t really sound like, “I am a healthy person,” does it?

Of course I was in a high level of denial that anything was going wrong with me physically. However, it was during my recovery that I came to the realization why I had been in such a high state of denial: My mind had me in the status quo, consistent, familiar, and predictable “Howard is a healthy person” mental construct box, and acknowledging that I had become unhealthy did not feel safe and secure as it meant change in my perception of me.

Status quo while having Parkinson’s

Once you get Parkinson’s and accept it, the mind settles into a new status quo. The symptoms of Parkinson’s are status quo. The symptoms are consistent, familiar, and predictable. Additionally, odd as this may sound, subconsciously they make you feel safe and secure as they are what you have become used to on a daily basis.

Once the ego mind and subconscious mind lock you in the “Parkinson’s box,” recovery is not status quo. Healing is not consistent with the mind’s view of the disease, nor is it familiar or predictable. That is why when people notice they have stopped shaking, almost everybody’s tremor returns.

Healing and recovery require change. However, change does not feel safe and secure to the ego mind or subconscious mind. The Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® does not feel safe and secure to the mind. The Recipe is a soul, mind, and body recovery protocol substantially outside of the status quo Parkinson’s mental construct.

There are some of the reasons why for the first seven months of my recovery, I had a daily argument with myself in the morning why it was pointless to do the Recipe. Every day I won the argument and did the Recipe, but it was mentally exhausting.

Breaking status quo and heading to recovery

Two big things to realize here:
1. To break the status quo, you need a truthful statement to take you out of the Parkinson’s mental construct. You need to give yourself permission to be calm and peaceful. “I am allowed to be calm and peaceful.”
2. To calm the ego mind and subconscious mind, you need compassionate reassurance of safety and security: “I will still be safe and secure.”

Additionally, to assist you further, here is an affirmation putting it all together to ease the mind into your recovery:

“I am allowed to be calm and peaceful. I will still be safe and secure.”

This gives you permission to not have symptoms. Also, it is deeper. “I am” is “Spirit Self” connected to the energy of the Universe. Spiritually, you are allowed to be calm and peaceful.

The more you are spiritually calm and peaceful, the more the body will be calm and peaceful. The mind needs an extra reassurance that it is safe and secure, so you let it know with the second part of the affirmation.

My challenge to you

My challenge to all of you is for the next week, continuously recite the affirmation:

“I am allowed to be calm and peaceful. I will still be safe and secure.”

Whether you sit for five minutes and recite it again and again and again for the five minutes a day, or you recite it during the day “as needed” to relinquish negative thoughts, or you do both, I would love to hear from you in a blog comment next week how it worked for you.

Who’s in???!

Please copy and paste the following in a comment if you are in for this week’s challenge of utilizing the affirmation as outlined above:

“I’m in!”

You are worth it!!!

All my best,

Howard
