Fear can be debilitating. Also, fear can cause Parkinson’s symptoms to look worse even when you are getting better. Taking positive action mitigates and eliminates fear. Today, you will learn how to do exactly that!
Last week’s blog post challenge
From last week’s blog post:
“My challenge to all of you is for the next week, continuously recite the affirmation:
“I am allowed to be calm and peaceful. I will still be safe and secure.”
Whether you sit for five minutes and recite it again and again and again for the five minutes a day, or you recite it during the day “as needed” to relinquish negative thoughts, or you do both, I would love to hear from you in a blog comment next week how it worked for you.”
Please post a comment below not only commenting on this week’s blog post, but also, letting us know how you did with the affirmation.
Parkinson’s and fear
Common fears in Parkinson’s are fear of falling, fear of getting worse, fear of worse-looking symptoms, and fear of what other people are thinking when they see you, etc.
Fear is not real. It is False Evidence Appearing Real (FEAR). Additionally, it exists in the mind and is nothing more than a thought about a future event that may or may not ever happen.
You can change the thoughts. This will not only help you with the Parkinson’s-associated fear, but with general fear that arises in life from time to time.
Here is a quick query of yourself when fear arises painting a gloom and doom picture of the future:
“Can the thing I am afraid will happen actually happen?
Yes.
What can I do beginning now to mitigate or eliminate the unpleasant thing from happening?”
Examples:
“Is it possible that I can fall while walking?
Yes.
What can I do beginning now to mitigate or eliminate falling when walking?”
I can walk slowly and safely.
I can use a walking stick or a walker.
I can practice walking by taking slow and small steps, and simply take my time to not upset my balance.
“Is it possible that Parkinson’s can get worse?
Yes.
What can I do beginning now to mitigate or eliminate Parkinson’s getting worse?
I can do the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® Qigong exercises.
I can do the symptom relief video’s on Howard’s You Tube channel.
I can do the mind calming, meditation, and mindfulness in the Recipe.
I can do the soul healing in the Recipe.
I can eat healthy food.
I can smile at people and feel joy and gratitude in my life.
Conclusion
The query and examples demonstrate a way of transforming fear into positive action. Positive action feels good and mitigates and eliminates fear by mitigating and eliminating the danger of what you are fearing.
Instead of being afraid of the future, you implement positive change so you can have the future you desire.
As Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” In the Parkinson’s world, this means: “Be the recovery you wish to see in yourself.”
Please post a comment letting us know how you did this last week reciting “I am allowed to be calm and peace. I will still be safe and secure.” Also, please post a comment letting us know if you are ready to transform fear into positive action that will mitigate and eliminate the fear.
You are worth it!!!
All my best,
Howard

Saying the affirmation last week definitely helped to bring some peace and calm back into my life. When you genuinely allow all those fears and worries to float away, the sense of joy and peace you feel in your heart is wonderful. Thank you for the reminder Howard that fear is not real, it is just the mind creating scenarios, so it’s important to put everything into perspective and surrender your fears to God. Stay positive and have faith in your recovery!!
I repeated the affirmation every day for the week and also as needed. I really focused on feeling it as I recited it. It helped me stay present and calm. I will continue to do it.
Setting aside fear as a product of ego mind aids in my recovery. I know it.
I have the power to heal myself.
Thank you Howard! I recited “I am allowed to be calm and peaceful. I am still safe band secure” daily and found it to be very beneficial. So will continue and add “I will be the recovery I wish to see in myself!!!! Along with the Recipe “I have the power to heal myself” and I am worth it!
We all are worth it!
With gratitude, Sandra
I found myself saying this mantra several times a day. Through doing this I observed how often I used anxiety in the past, thinking that made me feel safe. I see now how this became normal for me…until it wasn’t.
Now I trust myself, and know that I can choose to be calm and peaceful anytime. This is not to say it is not a work in progress, it most certainly is. For me, I know that choosing to feel calm and peaceful in every moment, continues to lead me towards my most imminent full recovery.
I am ready to continue to transform fear into positive action, and continue to practice this daily.
Howard, thank you for this great exercise you asked us to do this week. It was wonderful!
And so it is…
I repeated the affirmation daily, and continue to do so, expanding it like this:
I am allowed to be calm and peaceful in my body, and in my mind.
I continue to be safe and secure.
I realize that any fear I have is the ego-mind’s attempt to keep me safe.
I remind myself, constantly, that I am already safe and secure, right here, right now!
Thank you, Howard, for the wisdom you share!
I am filled with trust. My body heals itself naturally. I said the affirmation after every exercise. But the greatest affirmation against fear is still you, dear Howard. I only need to think of you and your healing, and I immediately feel calm, peaceful, safe, and protected. For me, this is simply incredible. Thank you so much.
I am surrounded by good people who all believe in me and say, “You can do this.” I have no critics. I believe that we are created by God to be healthy, and that is what my mind, body, and soul are striving toward.
Thank you Howard, for continuing to provide suggested actions which create healing awareness and expectation. I continue to follow the tortoise’s path and am making progress towards my recovery.
Thanks for this Howard! Here’s to the power of mantra’s, affirmations, visualization and prayers! For me they are indispensable. Wishing everyone here love and strength and luck ❤️
