During this summer of high heat and high humidity, many people are struggling with physical balance. Here are things to assist with improving your physical balance.
Improving physical balance while sitting in a chair
Recently, I was asked by a person if it was possible to improve physical balance by doing exercises in a chair. My initial impression was that I was wondering how it would be possible.
After doing some research, I came upon this video that helps you improve your physical balance while doing exercises from a chair:
Improving physical balance and posture
1. With your back against a wall (the back of your feet, buttocks, base of your head touching the wall, chin tucked in), maintain a straight line through your earlobe, center of your shoulder, and hip joint. Hold this position for 5 mins.
As you get comfortable holding this posture, slowly increase the timing. If your shoulder blades and head do not touch the wall when your heels are close like in the first picture, then slide your feet forward to bring your shoulder blades and head to the wall. Hold that position for 5 minutes if you can. Over time, you will slowly be able to bring your heels closer to the wall and not lose the straighter posture.

2. With your arms by your side, bring your shoulders as high as you can, hold the position for a few secs before relaxing your muscles and dropping your shoulders back to its natural position. You might have heard this expressed as “shrugging your shoulders.” Repeat 10 times. Follow up with 10 times of forward shoulder rolls and backward shoulder rolls each.

Rotate your neck joint by looking up, down, left, right, stopping at each direction for 10 secs. Once you are done checking for fallen pennies and the traffic, tilt your head to the left and right, again, holding each tilt at its maximum for 10 secs. Lastly, rotate the neck clockwise and anticlockwise 5 times each. (These are the same as the neck exercises in the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery®).

Improving balance by strengthening the hips, knees, and ankles
Here is symptom relief video part 5 from my You Tube Channel. Not only do you strengthen the hips, knees, and ankles, but you also improve your strength and endurance by sending lots of energy up the kidney meridian, which services the brain with energy.
The Recipe is a soul, mind, and body healing protocol. I feel that Parkinson’s reflects that a person has gotten out of balance in life, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
This week is improving your physical balance. The next two blog posts will cover improving your mental and spiritual balance.
